National Problem Gambling Awareness Week/Month
MARCH 6-12, 2011
The goal of the statewide campaign by the CT Council on Problem Gambling (CCPG) and its collaborators is to increase public and professional awareness of problem gambling issues and the availability of services to assist those affected by the disorder. Serious negative health consequences of problem and underage gambling impact mental, physical, and spiritual health, of problem gamblers, their families, friends, co-workers, and employers.
Highlights of activities in CT for Problem Gambling Awareness Week and throughout March Include:
NPGAW Press Conference: (March 8th 11 – 11:30 am)
- Location, Legislative Office Building, Room 2D, Hartford, CT
- Sponsored by the Partnership for Responsible Gambling , whose members include: CT Lottery Corporation, State of CT Problem Gambling Services, and the CCPG
- New Public Service announcements (PSAs) focused on youth and young adult gambling produced through the Partnership collaboration will be previewed
Legislative Breakfast: Women’s Breakfast (March 10th 8:30 am)
Annual event for legislators and their aides to learn more about women and problem gambling.

- Hosted by the Women’s Project: Members of the Women’s Project include representation from Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods Resort Casino, CT lottery, Problem gambling Services, Regional Action Councils, CT Clearinghouse and the CCPG
College Outreach
Programs at five colleges/universities supported by mini-grants offered by CCPG to promote awareness of college-age gambling and problem gambling:
