PREVENTION CONFERENCE BROADENS TO INCLUDE PROBLEM GAMBLING
One of the key strategies for the prevention of compulsive gambling is enhancing education and skills. As part of the Connecticut Prevention of Problem Gambling comprehensive plan, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) Compulsive Gambling Treatment Program is teaming with the CCPG to provide three educational opportunities at the annual prevention conference.
The 5th Annual Prevention Conference will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. August 2-4 at Gateway Community-Technical College in North Haven. The conference is funded by DMHAS.
Tuesday will feature a workshop by Jim Wuelfing of The New England Center on "Adolescent Gambling: New Highs and New Lows" and participation by Susan McLaughlin of the CCPG on a panel addressing "What's New and Who's Who! Connecticut."
On Wednesday, the CCPG Program Coordinator Susan McLaughlin presents a workshop entitled "Gambling and Problem Gambling Among Connecticut High School Students".
